Not in my library!

Do you have a staff member interested in discussing the details of an imaginary rendezvous with Halle Berry or Paris Hilton, or Denzel, perhaps - - on the job?

What about the cross burning group that wants to “hold court” in the large study room?

Or…a staffer who refuses to handle or process what they deem pornographic or erotic material.

And, what do you say to the staff member who refuses to work on Saturdays because it goes against their religious convictions.

How are we handling diversity issues in our libraries? Do you have a policy on diversity? Do tell....

No work...no pay?

A few weeks back we discussed who's in charge during a time of transition, particularly when the library director has moved on. Who does what? How does the work continue?

Continuing the "tricky situations" of library administrators theme, today we're talking about those staff that just don't work, to the detriment of the library operations. What happens when supervisors and/or managers won’t/don’t manage?

What difficulties have you faced in managing others, or in supervising staff that manage others. How do you handle that?
