No work...no pay?

A few weeks back we discussed who's in charge during a time of transition, particularly when the library director has moved on. Who does what? How does the work continue?

Continuing the "tricky situations" of library administrators theme, today we're talking about those staff that just don't work, to the detriment of the library operations. What happens when supervisors and/or managers won’t/don’t manage?

What difficulties have you faced in managing others, or in supervising staff that manage others. How do you handle that?

Counsel staff & spell out what to do and what not to do. Some things are not acceptable when it comes to talking down to staff. The issue of diversity has to be handled in most cases when it comes down to supervision and the handling of staff. Once the ground rules are established, feedback is necessary and much discussion must follow. Have had some of these problems and must continue to monitor the situation..
